Product Description

Introduction:
Our 801-D rheological additive is an advanced, dispersible, self-activating organic ammonium montmorillonite organoclay. Designed for versatile applications, it excels in low to medium aliphatic hydrocarbons, esters, ketones, and a range of high polar solvent systems such as xylene and butyl acetate. In medium-high polar solvents, it disperses seamlessly without an activator, while in low polar solvents like 200# solvent oil and white oil, adding a 30-40% weight of 95% ethanol is essential for optimal dispersion. This product draws a remarkable comparison to Bentone-SD1.

Application:
801-D serves as a comprehensive, dispersible rheological additive with broad-spectrum capabilities. It is ideal for antiseptic paints, printing inks, marine coatings, industrial decorative paints, automotive primers, and sealing materials.

Usage:
For best results, add 801-D rheological additive during the grinding phase of your production process. Under the cutting force of grinding or high-speed mixing, 801-D will thoroughly disperse and activate. Follow these structured steps:
Step 1: Integrate resin and solvent
Step 2: Introduce 801-D additive and mix at high speed for 10-20 minutes
Step 3: For low polar solvents like 200# solvent oil and white oil, add a polar activator (e.g., 95% ethanol) at 30-40% weight of the organoclay. Mix at high speed for 10-20 minutes. For medium-high polar solvents like xylene-butyl acetate, the additive self-activates without an activator.
Step 4: Add wetting agent and pigment, then grind and disperse via whipping, ball-milling, or sanding to achieve the desired fineness
Step 5: Continuously integrate other materials into the mixture until uniform consistency is achieved.

Dosage
The optimal dosage of 801-D rheological additive in paint is influenced by the desired thickening effect, rheological control, and pigment precipitation. Typically, the dosage ranges from 0.5-1.5% of the total paint volume. This can be fine-tuned based on previous organoclay usage, often requiring less than traditional organoclays.
