Introduction:
Discover the unparalleled efficiency of 801-D Rheological Additive from Zhejiang Qinghong New Material Co., Ltd. This dispersible, self-activated organic ammonium montmorillonite organoclay is engineered for superior performance in low to medium aliphatic hydrocarbons, esters, ketones, as well as high-polar solvent systems like xylene and butyl acetate. Unique in its ability to self-disperse without an activator in medium-high polar systems and requiring minimal activator in low polar environments, 801-D stands as an exceptional choice, comparable to Bentone-SD1.
Application:
801-D is a versatile, broad-spectrum rheological additive, ideal for use in antiseptic paints, printing oils, marine coatings, industrial decorative paints, automotive primers, and sealing materials.
Usage:
For optimal results, 801-D Rheological Additive should be incorporated directly during the grinding process. Under the mechanical force of grinding or whipping, the additive will fully disperse and activate. The recommended usage procedure is as follows:
1. Add resin/solvent
2. Add 801-D additive and mix at high speed for 10-20 minutes
3. For low polar solvents like 200# solvent oil and white oil aliphatic hydrocarbons, incorporate a polar activator (e.g., 95% ethanol) at 30-40% of the organoclay weight and mix at high speed for 10-20 minutes. In medium-high polar solvents like xylene and xylene-butyl acetate systems, the additive self-disperses without an activator.
4. Add wetting agent and pigment, then grind and disperse (using whipping, ball-milling, or sanding) to achieve the desired fineness
5. Integrate other materials into the formulation and continue dispersing until uniform.
Dosage
The dosage of 801-D Rheological Additive in paint formulations is contingent on the desired thickening effect, rheological properties, and the degree of pigment sedimentation. Typically, a range of 0.5-1.5% of the total paint volume is effective. This additive often requires a lower dosage than standard organoclays, allowing for optimized performance and cost-efficiency.
