Product Description

Introduction:
The 801-D Rheological Additive is a versatile, dispersible, self-activating organic ammonium montmorillonite organoclay. This sophisticated rheological enhancer is ideally suited for low-medium aliphatic hydrocarbons, esters, ketones, and high-polarity solvent systems in applications like paint and printing oil. In medium-high polarity systems such as xylene, ester (e.g., butyl acetate), and ketone (e.g., cyclohexanone), it disperses effortlessly without an activator. However, in low-polarity environments with 200# solvent oil and white oil (mineral alcohol) aliphatic hydrocarbons, it requires a polar activator (95% ethanol, 30-40% weight of the organoclay). This product offers a comparable performance to Bentone-SD1.

Application:
The 801-D is a broad-spectrum rheological additive, perfect for use in antiseptic paints, printing oils, marine coatings, industrial decorative paints, automotive primer coats, and sealing materials.

Usage:
Incorporate the 801-D rheological additive directly during the grinding phase of product manufacturing. Under the shear forces of grinding or whipping, the additive disperses and activates thoroughly. Here's the typical usage process:
1. Add resin/solvent.
2. Introduce 801-D additive, whip at high speed for 10-20 minutes.
3. For low-polarity solvents (200# solvent oil and white oil aliphatic hydrocarbon), add a polar activator (e.g., 95% ethanol, 30-40% weight of the organoclay) and whip at high speed for 10-20 minutes. For medium-high polar solvents (e.g., xylene, xylene-butyl acetate), the additive disperses without an activator.
4. Add wetting agent and pigment, grind and disperse (whipping, ball-milling, sanding) to reach the desired fineness.
5. Add other ingredients, and continue dispersing until uniform.

Dosage
The dosage of the 801-D rheological additive in paint depends on the desired thickening effect, rheological performance requirements, and pigment sedimentation levels. Typically, the dosage ranges from 0.5-1.5% of the paint volume. Adjustments can be made based on the dosage of standard organoclay before optimization, usually requiring less than conventional organoclay.
