Product Description

Introduction:
Introducing the 801-D Rheological Additive, a self-activating organic ammonium montmorillonite organoclay tailored for low to medium aliphatic hydrocarbons, esters, and ketones. Ideal for paints and printing oils within high-polarity solvent systems. In medium to high-polarity solvents like xylene or butyl acetate, 801-D self-activates without an added activator. However, in low polarity solvents such as 200# solvent oil and white oil, an activator like 95% ethanol (30-40% of the organoclay's weight) is essential for optimal dispersion. Comparable to Bentone-SD1, this product ensures superior performance and consistency.

Application:
801-D is a versatile, dispersible rheological additive suitable for antiseptic paints, printing oils, marine coatings, industrial decorative paints, automotive primers, and sealing materials. Its broad-spectrum efficacy makes it an indispensable choice for various industrial applications.

Usage:
For optimal performance, integrate the 801-D rheological additive directly during the grinding stage of production. Under the mechanical action of grinding or whipping, the 801-D disperses and fully activates. Follow these steps for effective use:
1. Add resin/solvent
2. Add 801-D additive, then whip at high speed for 10-20 minutes
3. If using a low-polarity solvent (200# solvent oil, white oil), incorporate a polar activator (e.g., 95% ethanol) at 30-40% of the organoclay's weight. Whip at high speed for 10-20 minutes. In medium-high polarity solvents like xylene or xylene-butyl acetate, the additive disperses without an activator.
4. Add a wetting agent and pigment, then grind and disperse (whipping, ball-milling, sanding) until reaching the desired fineness.
5. Integrate other ingredients, continue dispersing until uniformly blended.

Dosage
The appropriate dosage of 801-D rheological additive in paint formulations depends on the desired thickening effect, rheological properties, and pigment suspension. Typically, usage ranges from 0.5-1.5% of the total paint volume. This can be adjusted based on the performance of conventional organoclays but is generally lower than common organoclay requirements.
