Introduction:
Step into the world of unparalleled performance with our 801-D rheological additive. This sophisticated, dispersible, self-activated organic ammonium montmorillonite organoclay is specifically designed for a diverse range of solvent systems. Perfectly tailored for low-medium aliphatic hydrocarbons, esters, ketones, and even high-polarity solvents, our product ensures seamless integration and superior performance. In medium-high polarity solvents like xylene and butyl acetate, the 801-D disperses effortlessly, eliminating the need for additional activators. However, in low-polarity solvents such as 200# solvent oil and white oil, a polar activator (e.g., 95% ethanol) may be required at 30-40% of the organoclay weight to achieve optimal dispersion. Comparable to Bentone-SD1, this product guarantees exceptional results in a variety of applications.
Application:
The 801-D rheological additive is a versatile, broad-spectrum solution suitable for numerous applications. Whether you're working with antiseptic paints, printing oils, boat paints, industrial decorative finishes, car primers, or sealing materials, our additive ensures consistent and reliable performance across the board.
Usage:
Incorporating the 801-D additive into your formulation is a breeze. Add it directly during the grinding phase, where the mechanical action of grinding or whipping will fully disperse and activate the product. Here's a step-by-step guide to seamless integration:
1. Add resin/solvent to the mixture.
2. Introduce the 801-D additive and whip at high speed for 10-20 minutes.
3. If using low-polarity solvents like 200# solvent oil and white oil, add a polar activator (e.g., 95% ethanol) at 30-40% of the organoclay weight and whip for 10-20 minutes. For medium-high polarity solvents like xylene or xylene-butyl acetate, the product self-activates and disperses without the need for additional activators.
4. Add wetting agents and pigments, then grind and disperse (via whipping, ball-milling, or sanding) to achieve the desired fineness.
5. Incorporate other ingredients and continue mixing until the formulation is uniformly dispersed.
Dosage
The ideal dosage of the 801-D rheological additive in paint formulations is influenced by the desired thickening effect, rheology control, and pigment stabilization. Generally, a dosage range of 0.5-1.5% of the total paint volume is recommended. Remarkably, the 801-D often requires a lower dosage than conventional organoclays to achieve optimal results.
