Introduction:
Our 801-D rheological additive is a state-of-the-art, dispersible, self-activated organic ammonium montmorillonite organoclay. This remarkable additive is engineered for low-medium aliphatic hydrocarbons, esters, ketones, as well as paints and printing oils in high polar solvent systems. In medium-high polar solvents like xylene, butyl acetate, and cyclohexanone, it effortlessly self-activates without needing any activator. However, for low polar solvents such as 200# solvent oil and white oil aliphatic hydrocarbons, an activator (95% ethanol, 30-40% weight of the organoclay) is necessary for optimal dispersion. Comparable to Bentone-SD1, 801-D is the superior choice for a versatile range of applications.
Application:
The 801-D rheological additive is a versatile, broad-spectrum solution perfect for antiseptic paints, printing oils, boat paints, industrial decorative paints, car primers, and sealing materials. Its applications are as diverse as they are effective.
Usage:
Incorporate 801-D rheological additive directly during the grinding phase of production. Under the cutting force of grinding or whipping, the additive will fully disperse and activate, ensuring optimal performance. Use the following steps for best results:
1. Add resin/solvent
2. Introduce 801-D additive and whip at high speed for 10-20 minutes
3. For low polar solvents like 200# solvent oil and white oil aliphatic hydrocarbons, add a polar activator (95% ethanol) at 30-40% weight of the organoclay and whip for 10-20 minutes. In medium-high polar solvent systems with xylene or butyl acetate, no activator is needed for self-activated dispersion.
4. Add wetting agent, pigment, and then grind or disperse (through whipping, ball-milling, or sanding) to achieve the required fineness.
5. Add other ingredients and continuously disperse until evenly mixed.
Dosage:
For paint formulations, the dosage of 801-D rheological additive is determined by the desired thickening effect, rheological performance, and degree of pigment precipitation. A general dosage range is 0.5-1.5% of the total paint volume. Typically, the required dosage is lower than that of conventional organoclays, providing an efficient and optimized solution.
